Group IV September SAREX
We are currently planning another Group IV SAREX for 21-22 September.
We are planning to operate out of two facilities: Katy Commerce Center will host the Incident Command Post and Ground Team/UDF Staging Area. Houston Executive Airport (KTME) will host the Air Operations Staging Area. If there are any changes to this plan, we will send out updates as required.
Incident management team participants should plan to arrive by 0700 local for initial setup. Sign-in will open at 0730, with our briefings beginning at 0800. The first round of sorties will be planned to depart no later than 0900. All participants must be signed in and briefed prior to being released on any sorties.
In preparation, we need to make sure we can staff the ICP and will have the appropriate aircraft, vehicle, and personnel resources available to support the staging area and desired training. If General Emergency Services has been completed, there is always room for anybody interested in participating!
Not only are we requesting Ground/UDF Teams and Aircrews, but any personnel interested in serving as mission base staff, including mission radio operators, mission staff assistants, branch directors, and section chiefs.
For those that intend or plan on attending, please notify us, to better serve your training needs. We ask that you inform us what day or days you can attend and what position you would like to serve or train (e.g., MS, MO, MP, AP, UDF, GTM, or incident staff). Additionally, since this exercise will be split between two facilities, please let us know which facility you intend to report to. Those planning to bring aircraft, vans, or any other equipment, please let us know via the comments field in the form or via email.
The focus will be on search and rescue, air-ground coordination, and airborne photography. To provide effective and realistic training, we will need to have a strong presence in both air crew and ground team capacities.
To encourage as much involvement as possible, we aim to make the SAREX fun, while also providing realistic and well-developed training scenarios with as minimal down-time as possible. These exercises allow us to develop and hone our skills and capabilities in order to provide service to our community, state, and nation during times of natural disaster or emergency.
